October Quiz-Danville Southside

Posted 07 Oct, 2014 12:45 PM by Ron

I know several of you emailed me over the weekend letting me know they're registrations--as I thought registration was open, but apparently forgot to check a box (even though my dates were correct...) Super sorry about that.  You can now go and register your teams, equipment and officials online. Registration closes Thursday afternoon.  If you do NOT register on time, we're going to start charging you extra :)  Of course we are in need of all these things, so please let me know if you're available to officiate, etc as soon as possible so we can determine the number of rooms.  It looks like we may have a few more teams this time, and want to plan accordingly.
We will be starting a little later with 8:45 registration to give people a few extra minutes to get to Danville Southside.  It is in Tilton, IL, which is just south of Danville.
Marcia will again be serving lunch at church. They are planning to doing hot dogs, chips, drink & dessert. also do peanut butter and jelly again if you think she needs to have that available. Also, they will again be selling some candy bars and a few snacks.  The church has asked that all food and drink stay in the fellowship hall and not be carried out into other parts of the building.

Aaron is trying to make money for NYC and he makes some awesome pumpkin bread. If anyone would like to buy some pumpkin bread or a pumpkin pie, we can have it for them at the quiz.  Please try to let her know ASAP so he can get them made :)
Small loaf of pumpkin Bread is: $4.00
Large loaf of pumpkin bread is $8.00
    Pumpkin Pie is: $10.00
Rubyanne from Sheldon is also doing some NYC fundraising.  If I get more details, I'll update that here!

Also, if anyone is wanting to go down the night before (Fri. night), Danville First Church has graciously made their church available. There will be no showers available and they will have to sleep on the floor in the classrooms They will need to bring their sleeping bags. If anyone wants to come and stay at First Church contact Marcia at: 217-474-8483. (same for the pumpkin goodies)!

Who's ready for Acts?

Posted 05 Jul, 2014 05:05 PM by Ron

We had a great time with 20 super fun quizzers from Chicago Central District at Q2014.  Now, its time to start gearing up for Acts.

We are looking at doing some zone/area activities in late July and August to talk about/demonstrate quizzing for new quizzers or teams.  If you are interested in hosting an event, let us know.  I know Waukegan will be hosting an event at the end of July and Danville will be setting one up as well.  We would like you to encourage students to attend, even if they don't think they are interested-once you try it, sometimes it becomes an interest.  We also want you to invite other local youth groups without quiz programs.

District Finals!!

Posted 23 Mar, 2014 08:46 AM by Ron

hey everyone!

Our regular season wraps up this weekend.  Here are a few details to get you there as well as a couple of other bits of info!

First--please register online no later than TUESDAY afternoon.  I need to get the number of teams squared away so we can make a schedule, a tournament bracket, and all that other good stuff.  I NEED OFFFICIALS!! If we get enough, we can do 2 team the whole time!!

Finals are at college church university campus.  On-site check in and final registration will begin at 6:30.  Our hope is to begin quizzing by 7:15 and to be done before 10.   Saturday we will finish the round robin, and then have a tournament.  Our goal is that the regular quizzing with awards will be done by 4.  Then we will have our Top 16 quiz off to determine who will represent us at celebrate life in may.   Quizzers must be in 7th grade to compete in Top 16, as celebrate life does not allow 6th grade participants.  We will once again be providing a light dinner for each quizzer and their coach in Top 16--We will have. a few additional dinner tickets available for quizzers who stay to watch.  IF YOU can let me know in advance that would be great--otherwise tickets will be on sale through lunch on saturday.

Quizzers and adults planning to attend Q2014 need to turn in their registration forms and deposit this weekend.  This is so we know how many teams to register for as a district.  We are asking that all quizzers going be on a district team (either novice or experienced).  i know a few students were considering going to watch, but we wont have the adult supervision to know what they are up to if they arent on any teams.

Next year we will be quizzing over Acts.  We would really love to see more teams get involved , and would be happy to help you partner with churches in your area to get more students involved!  We didnt do a kick off event this year in August, but would be happy to so something (with a little help) if thats of interest.
grace and peace!
